Vitamin D Deficiency

Vitamin D is one of the most important Vitamins. It is responsible for countless bodily functions and a deficiency can create dozens of health problems from simple things such as a cold, or weak muscles to more severe problems such as cancer, and mental health disorders.

If you live in a warm climate make sure you spend at least 15-30 minutes a day in the sun with your skin exposed. Contrary to popular belief, the best time to be in the sun is not in the morning and evening, but rather mid-day, as harmful UVA rays are lowest in mid-day, while beneficial UVB rays used to create Vitamin D in the body are at their highest.

If you live in a cold climate it is imperative that you supplement with Vitamin D3 during the winter as most people are deficient. In order to restore Vitamin D levels to a healthy level at least 8,000-10,000 IU daily are required and they must be taken with fat in order to be absorbed by the body.
